Holly Gilbert will be ministering in South Africa with Bill and Sue Knipe and Tony and Cathy Payne. Holly was raised in Wyoming and had a desire to serve in missions from the time she was a young girl. The Lord led her into fields of study that may initially appear to not lead toward missions, as she graduated from Bob Jones University with degrees in graphic design and counseling. Holly used those skills extensively for ministry, however, as she served at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville in ways as far ranging as teaching Sunday school, creating Vacation Bible School sets, leading event planning teams, providing special music, handling interior and graphic design needs, serving in the sound room, and hosting fellowships. During this time she also worked in the financial services field, using it too, as a platform for ministry and evangelism. She also participated on mission trips to the western United States, Cameroon, Kenya, and several times in South Africa.
In 2015 the Lord called Holly into short-term ministry in assisting the Knipes and Paynes in church-planting ministries in Cape Town, South Africa, in a community of primarily Coloureds, who speak Afrikaans and English.
Her goal is to assist in the establishment of indigenous Scriptural churches in South Africa.
Holly anticipates assisting with evangelistic and medical outreach; teaching and counseling women and children in a variety of settings; and helping with administrative needs, event planning, and church music. Above all, she looks forward to sharing with people from all walks of life that Jesus is worthy of their trust, submission, and worship.
Holly plans to serve short-term for two years, during which time she will seek the Lord's direction about career missions. To view Holly’s photo gallery, click the picture below.
