BJMBC Dedicates New Facilities at PRISM Conference

God blessed BJMBC’s anniversary conference on October 2-5, 2018, with guests from Singapore, the USA, and various provinces of the Philippines. Our conference theme was “PRISM: Reflecting the Light.” The Holy Spirit definitely spoke through the messages from 15 speakers. One highlight was the messages by our keynote speaker, Steve Lauhoff, who was one of the founders of BJMBC and a former director. A staff member commented that the Lord was “realigning” her through the conference messages, and a faculty member said that God showed her things she needed to change and do.

Another highlight was the concert by the BJMBC music department. Many described the music as beautiful, excellently performed, and a tribute to what God has done here. More importantly, the truths of the lyrics led us to worship God and examine our lives.

We were not able to hold the dedication service in the new building because of the lack of an occupancy permit. Instead we had a 20-minute dedication prayer meeting in the new chapel. Almost everyone made the special trip there an hour before the full dedication service back at Gospel Light Baptist Church where the entire PRISM conference was held. The challenge with not having electricity to turn on the fan and enduring the stifling heat did not deter anyone’s enthusiasm to meet in the building for the first time. Back at GLBC for the dedication service, we honored the engineers and staff who facilitated the building construction project, especially Doug Bachorik. Throughout the conference, several mentioned that they want to begin studying at BJMBC or send their children or church members here in the future. To God be the glory!

The week of October 17, the electric company installed full power at the new BJMBC building. We still have a few issues with which city hall wants us to comply. Then they will process our occupancy permit, which they say takes 1-8 months.
