Bio

Jim Spears grew up in a military family and was drafted into the military late during the Viet Nam war. At the age of 25, Jim trusted Christ as His Savior and several years later married Kathy, a godly Christian school teacher. Jim and Kathy surrendered to full-time Christian service during a missions conference, and soon he left the military to attend seminary. After graduating from Calvary Baptist Seminary in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, they left for the Philippines as missionaries and served there for more than ten years as church planters. In 1997 they were called of the Lord to return to the United States, where Jim became the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

Kathy went home to be with the Lord in 2015. Their four sons are married and, along with their wives, are all faithful servants of God. Two are missionaries. Jim enjoys spending time with his seven grandchildren.

In 2021 Jim joined GFA to serve as an interim pastor in the States or furlough replacement for missionaries overseas. He is delighted and thankful to be a part of the GFA family.
