Bio

Tyler grew up in Portugal as a missionary kid and made a profession of faith at a young age. When Tyler was 14 his family transitioned fields to the country of Brazil. Tyler developed a burden for missions while participating in ministry and surrendered his life to full-time ministry. While in college, Tyler returned to Brazil twice as part of the Bob Jones University soccer mission team. While completing his undergraduate and graduate studies (BA in Bible in 2009, MA in cross-cultural studies in 2011, and MDiv in 2014), he served as president and chaplain of his society and on the Student Life staff. As a Biblical Worldview Specialist at BJU Press since 2016, he has spoken in Christian school conferences on worldview, helped write several elementary Bible textbooks, and led the biblical worldview shaping in several textbook lines including Bible, early childhood, foreign language, math, and science.

Cassie grew up in South Carolina, where she came to know the Lord at the age of 10. The Lord led her family to worship at Mount Calvary Baptist Church that same year. Cassie took two summer mission teams to Mexico while she was in college. The Lord enabled her to become conversational in Spanish, and she developed a burden for missions on those trips. She completed her undergraduate training in women’s ministries in 2009 and her master’s degree in elementary education in 2012.

After Tyler and Cassie were married in 2011, the Lord blessed them with three children: Christiana (2014), Timothy (2016), and Vincent (2018). Their whole family has enjoyed worshipping and serving at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Tyler was privileged to complete the Undershepherd in Training internship at Mount Calvary. Tyler has also led a mission outreach called Neighborhood Bible Class for five years, where he preaches weekly.

Tyler and Cassie have sensed the Lord’s calling to serve as furlough replacements for Tyler’s parents, Gary and Yvonne Trometer, beginning in the summer of 2022. The church plant, Hope Baptist Church in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil, recently reached the exciting milestone of formalizing its charter. Tyler and Cassie will carry on the preaching, discipleship, and evangelism ministries while Tyler’s parents visit their supporting churches in the US.
