Because of Jesus’ high priestly work, Hebrews 4:16 tells us to “draw near to the throne of grace” (NASB). Communion is the conscious enjoyment of God’s presence with us. Communion with God is satisfying (Psalm 73:25; Psalm 27:4; Psalm 42:1–2), Christlike (Luke 5:16), and eternal (Luke 10:42). It should be the goal of prayer. In this session, we considered some specific ways to develop this communion with our God and to teach in our ministries communion as the goal of prayer.
