Vision
Every community should have a sound, biblical ministry with a heart for reaching the lost and meeting the spiritual needs of the local population. It is God’s plan that as people are evangelized, they are directed to local churches so that they can be discipled in spiritual growth and serve the Lord. This is the essence of fulfilling the Great Commission, and it is the pattern that is presented in the Book of Acts.
History
In the late 1980s, a Bible-preaching church closed its doors and sold its property. Most of the assets were donated to GFA, and the church-planting endowment was established. Since the early 1990s, GFA has been directly involved in planting over 30 Bible-preaching churches in the USA through this program, and almost all of these churches are still going forward for the Lord today.
Strategy
Our strategy is to identify places where there is a definite need and potential for establishing a self-supporting church within five years. GFA officially partners with the church planter for a period of three years, during which we provide personal training, mentoring, coaching, field visits, monthly accountability, and financial assistance. We work cooperatively and respectfully with the sending church of the church planter, as well as with his other supporting churches. We expect the church planters and churches with whom we partner to share our essential vision, mission, values, beliefs, and philosophy of ministry. We respect the autonomy of the new church.
As a family of international missionaries and American church planters, GFA strongly desires a long-term relationship with each church planter, his family, and the church he plants. We cherish a lasting ministry friendship that will multiply fruitfulness for Christ.
Director
After 21 years of pastoral ministry, Dr. Marshall Fant transitioned to GFA where he oversees church planting and development as well as the interim pastors ministry. Marshall and his wife Gretchen replanted Harvest Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC, in 1996, and saw it grow from an average attendance of 12 to 260 people.
