The New Testament is full of references to Paul’s prayers for his travels. These prayers are governed by God’s calling on him as a missionary (Romans 15:20–30). Paul submitted his longer-term desires to the fulfilling of what he knew God was calling him primarily to do. He prayed honestly, admitting the dangers. He also prayed repeatedly, motivated by love and a strong desire, and he prayed submissively, accepting God’s prevention at times.
