GFA Serving Missionaries

Getting a missionary to the field takes team work. Many logistical issues confront missionaries on deputation and as they transition to and serve on the foreign field. GFA Missions assists missionaries by providing:

Credibility

The testimony of GFA adds Christian recognition and weight to the missionary's calling. Pastors have greater confidence to invite a missionary to speak when they know he is with a board that will maintain a strong biblical position over the years of the missionary's service.

Training

GFA helps prepare its missionary deputees for effective cross-cultural ministry through its annual Ministry Advance Training Retreat. Individual instruction and the annual GFA Family Conference help them have active and fruitful deputation and on-field ministries.

Counsel & Encouragement

Aviation2.JPGGFA provides its missionaries with solid counsel in matters relating to deputation, furlough, and field ministries. Mission personnel visit the missionaries on the field and hold ministry review sessions with each missionary on furlough to help the mission maintain a clear understanding of the needs and challenges of each field and missionary.

Care of Business Details

  • Transmission of funds: GFA keeps financial support records for each missionary and project and provides him a monthly statement of support and supporters. Support sent through GFA will be sent to the missionary and receipts sent to donors.
  • Insurance: GFA arranges group insurance coverage for each missionary and assists in the processing of claims.
  • Communication: To facilitates communication between missionaries and churches, GFA sends prayer letters and aids in the creation of prayer cards and DVDs.
  • Representation: GFA is recognized by many foreign governments and can therefore deal more effectively with difficult problems, such as visas and work permits.

Mediation

GFA is able to act as mediator in problems which may occur on the field. Problems on a field can involve several missionaries and mission agencies, as well as several home churches. The mission board, as a neutral mediator, can effectively help resolve these conflicts.

MK Education

GFA provides materials for educating its missionary children on the field. GFA also provides special training for those who homeschool their children on the field.
