Mark and Paula Batory

Status: On the Field

Location: North America
Field: United States

Mark and Paula Batory served as missionaries in Mexico for almost four years, during which time they taught and helped in the administration of Mount Horeb Bible Institute and established the Berean Fundamental Baptist Church in Tamazunchale. Three months before the Batorys were to begin their first furlough, Dr. Batory contracted a severe case of hepatitis, which necessitated their leaving the field. The Berean Fundamental Baptist Church has flourished and been able to call a Mexican pastor as well as build its own church buildings.

In April of 1985, Dr. Batory was appointed as “missions representative” for GFA. At the same time he became pastor of a Spanish ministry under Faith Baptist Church of Greenville, SC. While there, he began a Spanish Bible institute to train Hispanics, several of whom have returned to their home countries to minister to their own people.

In May of 1989, the GFA Board asked Dr. Batory to take the position of Associate Director of the mission, and then in January of 1991, to become its Executive Director, which is a position he held until May of 2022. As Executive Director, Dr. Batory oversaw and assisted more than 500 missionaries who served in around 45 countries.

Among her many other duties, Paula remains active among the Hispanic population in Greenville, South Carolina. She serves as a Spanish interpreter and translator for the South Carolina Court Administration. Paula is delighted to use these responsibilities as a platform for evangelism.

The Batorys have two married children and six grandchildren.
