Bio
Chris grew up as a military kid and was saved at the age of 9 in Puerto Rico through the ministry of a missionary to the military. Heidi grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, where her father teaches at Bob Jones University. Both Chris and Heidi graduated from Bob Jones University. They met each other at University Baptist Church in Clemson, SC, while Chris was working on a master's degree in math at Clemson. They were married in 2000, and Chris finished his seminary training in 2002 at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.
God has blessed the Seawrights with 5 children: Rachel (2003), Isaac (2005), Susanna (2007), Titus (2009), and Seth (2013). Their family's names are easy to remember using the acrostic "Christ's": Chris, Heidi, Rachel, Isaac, Susanna, Titus, and Seth.
Ministry in Cambodia (2004-2017)
The Seawrights spent their first year in the capital city of Phnom Penh, focusing all of their energies on language and cultural learning. From 2005-2010, their family ministered alongside of the Forrest McPhail family in Pursat province, about 3 hours northwest of Phnom Penh. By God's grace, they were able to help the McPhails with the planting of the Inheritance in Christ Church (ICC) in 2006. From 2010-2013, the Seawrights ministered in Pailin province near the border of Thailand. Numerous Bible studies were held with both professing believers and unsaved individuals using Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ. They met weekly with one family who desired to start a new independent church in Pailin town. This family moved to another province in 2012. From 2013-2017, the Seawright family served in Battambang province, also in Western Cambodia. During their years in Battambang province, they were involved with strengthening five different groups of believers (2 in the city; 3 in the countryside). They spent much time in evangelistic teaching (teaching through the Gospel over a period of 8-10 weeks) and initial discipleship teaching with these groups. During this time Chris wrote an initial discipleship booklet called "Questions and Answers about the Gospel of Jesus.” They have partnered with a number of missionaries in Cambodia in developing resources under the banner “Seeking the Wisdom of Jesus."
Ministry in Thailand (2017-Present)
Due to a number of factors, including Heidi's health, the Seawrights moved to Thailand on July 26, 2017, and spent the first year living in Bangkok doing full-time language and cultural studies. In October of 2018, their family moved to Chachoengsao province, about 1.5 hours east of Bangkok in Eastern Thailand. Their province of Chachoengsao has one of the largest concentration of Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand. Their heart's desire is to seek out opportunities to evangelize and disciple Cambodian migrant workers with the goal of seeing churches established.
The Seawrights are praying earnestly for another young couple to join them who will commit to learning the Thai language and culture and who desire to see disciples made and matured in the local church setting.
The Seawrights have a family and ministry website: www.untilthenetisfull.com. The Association resources are located at that website.
