Bio
Tom and Jane Dotson joyfully labored for the Lord of the harvest as church planters in England for 28 years.
Both Tom and Jane were saved later in life through evangelistic meetings. Although they had both previously made professions of faith, the Lord used the evangelist’s message to show them that their previous emotional experience had not been true salvation. Shortly after his salvation, Tom knew God was calling him to preach, so he enrolled at Bob Jones University to prepare for full-time ministry.
Near the end of Tom’s studies at BJU, the Lord utilized a missionary book to burden his heart for the great need in England. At the time, Tom was pastoring a church in northeast Georgia and planned to move to that area to further the ministry. However, after God called him, he resigned, applied to GFA Missions, and began raising financial and prayer support.
The Dotsons moved to Brimpton, a small village 50 miles west of London, in 1981 with the goal of establishing an indigenous church. They first started Faith Baptist Church. The little church met in village halls and had a large contingent of American military attending since it was near an American air base. Eventually when the air base closed, Tom spoke with the lay pastor from another small church in Brimpton about merging their churches. The other pastor agreed, and Tom became the pastor of Brimpton Baptist Church.
In addition to the church, the Dotsons remodeled a small school building used for Sunday school to help tutor children who were home educated. Over time, this became a Christian school. Tom and Jane also aided a nearby Bible institute with training the church folks and giving them a firm understanding of the Scriptures.
True to his goal, when the Lord called the Dotsons back to the United States, Tom was able to turn the church over to a national pastor. Tom had led this man to the Lord and mentored him for many years. Tom now assists churches by filling the pulpit from time to time.
