Phill and Samantha Kliewer have a burden to see healthy local churches established throughout the Intermountain West. After years of serving in pastoral ministry, the Lord has directed their family to Grand Junction, Colorado, where they are planting Hope Baptist Church. Their desire is to establish a biblically rooted, disciple-making, Christ-exalting church that faithfully proclaims God's Word and equips believers to make disciples.
Phill was raised in a Christian home where he regularly heard the truth of Scripture. At a young age, he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior, and during his high school years, the Lord used the preaching of His Word to deepen his walk with Christ and call him into full-time ministry. While studying at Bob Jones University, God used opportunities in evangelistic ministry, student leadership, and the local church to shape his passion for shepherding people and strengthening churches. Throughout those years, the Lord also developed in him a growing burden for the mountain West, where faithful, gospel-preaching churches are greatly needed.
Samantha also grew up in a Christian home and placed her faith in Christ as a young child. Following high school, she spent time traveling with an evangelist's family, where the Lord gave her a willingness to serve Him wherever He would lead. God has graciously gifted her in hospitality, music, and encouraging others, and she enjoys serving alongside Phill while faithfully caring for their family.
Phill and Samantha dated while attending Bob Jones University and were married in 2013. God has blessed them with three children—Elias, Ezekiel, and Eden—who are an important part of their ministry. Together they desire to point others to Christ and encourage believers to grow into faithful disciples who love God, love His church, and make Him known.
After serving for several years in pastoral ministry at Fellowship Baptist Church in Nampa, Idaho, the Lord confirmed His leading for the Kliewers to plant a church in western Colorado. They are now serving in Grand Junction with a vision to establish a healthy New Testament church that is firmly grounded in Scripture, centered on the Gospel, committed to making disciples, and passionate about exalting Jesus Christ. They believe that healthy churches are God's primary means of reaching communities with the Gospel and pray that the Lord will use this church plant to strengthen believers, reach the lost, and send future laborers throughout the Intermountain West and beyond.
