Bio

The Spiveys joined GFA as missionaries in 1962. They faithfully shared the warmth of God’s love in Sweden and British Columbia for 47 years.

In 1964, Foy and Peggy set out for the field of Sweden where they launched into church planting. They also began a weekly Bible study. The Spiveys evangelized broadly through evangelistic meetings in the surrounding churches and personally through devotional services held in the local hospital and home for the aged. The couple also hosted a children’s Bible club.

The Lord led the Spiveys onwards to British Columbia, Canada, in 1976. Initially, they helped with visitation, Bible Clubs, and home studies under the leadership of an existing church. Peggy also worked in the local Christian school. Several years later, Foy was called to take over the pastorate of an independent church. After handing off the leadership to another man, the Spiveys moved to White Rock, a town in southern Surrey, to pastor Semiahmoo Baptist Church. Foy also used his skills as a pilot to transport people and equipment between the island and mainland.

Considering several health issues and increasing age, the Spiveys believed it was time to join the ranks of the active retirees in 2009. Foy stepped down as senior pastor at Semiahmoo. Nevertheless, the Spiveys remained as active as possible in the Lord’s work, splitting their time between Arizona, where their daughter lived, and British Columbia.

On November 24, 2019, Peggy went to be with the Lord.
